The
journey of Al-Raya started in the year 1991
with the opening of Al-Raya Supermarket on Amir Majid Street.
It was just but a figment of my mind to build an enterprise where in
I could fulfill the daily shopping needs of a common man. Let me
start by thanking Allah (SWT) for making Al-Raya Supermarkets the
biggest supermarket chain in the western region of Saudi Arabia. I
owe this to my team, our customers and our suppliers without whom
this achievement would have been a far-fetched dream.

this has not only earned us laurels from our clients but their loyal
support and invaluable trust turning them into our dedicated

most lucrative and most stable middle-eastern market for export
trade. Saudi Arabia is a multiracial market, which places specific
needs in the area of products consumed due to its multiracial
society. Many different types of food and non-food items are needed
to serve the various ethnic tastes.

as we become more enriched with the growth in the number of
our supermarkets necessitating recruitment and human resources
development of the workforce.
Since
1991 we have tread a long way and our family keeps growing setting a
new trend in the administration of policies and procedures for a
large workforce. Quality aspect and the humane treatment has helped
us to build high worker morale unkonwn in this industry for a long
time paying rich dividends of loyalty and unmatched performance by
our staff members.

to our nation`s call
for Saudisation we have moved milestones and are preparing a plan
for training and development of a Saudi workforce in tandem with
expatriates to supports and improve the human resource of an
enterprise wherein no one can deny that a new incumbent not only
brings a new strategy and ideas but a new experience for the whole
organisation. True to our ideals we learn each day a new thing
adding a new leaf in the advent of human resource management, which
has been augmented by having a multi- national workforce. The days
and nights behind 24 hours shopping experience is manned by our
staff members which is bound to grow in the near future with more
locations to be opened soon and we look forward to more Saudis
joining us giving them not only an employment but a sense of
business acumen to serve the society with a human input.

that contributed to the growth of Al-Raya Supermarkets include the
overall prosperity in the Kingdom, the positive development in the
standard of living and demand for variety and quality . It`s not
just a growth in the number of supermarkets but the development in
the quality of these markets is creditable. Over the years, we have
been trying to meet the demands of a more enlightened consumer by
improving upon our displays, organized shelves, increase in the
check out counters, better preservation methods and overall
improvements in services. Furthermore, we now conduct about 52
promotion periods annually making our loyal customer a sure winner!
